When I was young, I once heard one of my older brothers say that if he could have one wish granted, it would be for peace of mind. I was young, so at the time, that meant absolutely nothing to me. I thought “that’s a strange wish, I certainly wouldn’t waste my only wish on that”. As I grew older, the wish began to make a lot of sense to me. Often, I found myself making that same wish, over and over again. As we go though life, we all face hardships and trials, some one after the other. Or we might know someone or ourselves that trouble just seems to wait on the door steps. It seems that when one fire is put out another one starts. We feel like saying who opened the flood gates of hell? We tend to become frustrated and lose focus. Fear sets in, accompanied by doubt. The first thing that we have to do is acknowledge that God is still in control, and claim peace in Jesus name. He will put out the fires of hell’s gate and close it. So we need to stay calm and look to the hills which cometh our help. Don’t let the enemy stress us out. Worrying is not going to change anything. It will only make the problems look bigger. Be at peace, God is not going to let the problem destroy us. He will provide a way of escape. Just trust and believe, do as Jesus did and say “peace be still”. The book of Psalm is filled with prayers for protection and deliverance. Prayers for peace and restoration. Try Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust. God will give us peace, He will make the enemy behave. Secondly, God has not given us a spirit of fear, or confusion -2 Timothy 1:7 teaches us that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind . The worst thing that we can do to ourselves is have fear. It will cause us to make terrible mistakes and cloud our judgement. We began to play out all kinds of bad scenarios in our mind. We give the enemy power when we fear, we make bad decisions and start reaching for the first thing that looks like a lifeline. We have to remember the devil is a deceiver, so try the spirit by the spirit. If someone comes along offering you a way out of your situation and you know that it is not something that lines up with the Word of God, don’t accept it. We are to patiently endure knowing that God will deliver us. Psalm 62:5 says My soul wait patiently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. God will enlarge our territory. He already knows what we have need of and He will place others in position to help us. Stand strong in faith, knowing that the Lord is our Shepherd and we shall not be in lack. The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. Seek God when in trouble, we should not try to work things out on our own. God teaches us to lean not on our own understanding but acknowledge Him, and He will direct our steps. Even when we’re standing in the fire and need some” right now help”, just be still and call on Him the battle is not ours, even though we may have brought the fight on ourselves- that’s what God’s grace and mercy is for. His grace is sufficient to keep us and deliver us. No matter what the situation or how bad things look, we have to have faith in God, began to praise Him. Speak a positive, don’t speak the problem. Ask God to let favor surround you and your household like a shield. Seek God for the solution. Find a bible and began to meditate daily on the Word of God, then you will see those problems will leave your house.
An Exuberant Declaration of Faith
27 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
4 One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
5 For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.
