New Life

Forgetting those things which are behind can sometimes be one of our greatest challenges. The memories can live on in our minds long after the event has passed. There are the good ones, and we find ourselves smiling. Then there are the bad ones, and we find ourselves crying, getting angry, feeling the hurt/loss all over again, as if it just happened.The enemy tends to play the scene over and over in our minds. Right out of no where, a memory that you do not want to entertain will just pop up. Or you just wake up in the middle of the night and there it is. It could be a relationship, loss of a family member or friend, someone did something that caused us to feel angry, hurt, or cheated us in someway, abuse, something that we did or said, and we wish that we could get a “do over”. The reality is that we can not go back and un- ring the bell, there are no do overs, just start overs, new beginnings. So our focus should be on today. When those memories pop up, begin to give God thanks and praise for bringing us through and keeping us during those times. Focus on good and positive things. Read a scripture/scriptures- pray or call a prayer friend/ line. Another truth, if we do not let go of these past people/ things, then we cannot fully enjoy the daily blessings that God has for us.

2 Corinthians 10:5

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Philippians 3:13

13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,

Be blessed, keep God first, and keep looking up.
