Remain focused on the Reason for the Season
Celebrating Christmas is about celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It’s about God’s great love for us. He loved us so much that He gave His only Son to die for our sins. John 3:16 teaches us “God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life.”  We know that God did not send His son into the world to be its judge, or to cause us to live in a world of unhappiness,  but to be its savior.  Christ was born to give us life, to set us free from sin and death. This is not a celebration to make the merchants richer, santa claus, a christmas tree or feeling sad because you have no toys or gifts to give or put under a tree. While giving material gifts are great, and we all love to receive them- we don’t always have to buy in order to give and receive. We should never place ourselves in financial hardship or do anything illegal /immoral to obtain gifts to give on the day that we celebrate the birth of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.. Hardship and sin is not a part of God’s desire or gift for us. We’ve already received our best gift ever. The gift that never stops giving, which is God’s love for us, a Savior who came to save the lives of us all (Luke 2:10-12)
So while passing our gifts, or not passing out gifts, let’s remain focused on the True reason for the season which is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the best gift of all.
Isaiah 9:6-7
6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Have a Great Christmas Holiday
Be Blessed, keep God first and keep looking up,
Cheryl
